with Alice Fox
on 03 September 2019
Alice Fox was the guest speaker at our meeting on September 3rd – the first one of our “new” year.
Alice began with a brief outline of how she became involved in the world of textiles, explaining how observations together with everyday objects can be used as an exciting base for creativity and how we can employ the ordinary in an extraordinary way. Her methodical but easy-going approach to art emphasised the abstract and the value of mark-making (good news for the non-drawers amongst us!). Her talk also gave us an insight into, and hopefully set, the challenge of how to use and recycle what is readily available – an important lesson in the world today.
Overall, a good combination of mixed media skills with a methodical approach, giving a “taster” of the workshop to come.
A well attended talk with a very sociable atmosphere. It’s good to be back!
